Bespoke logos from 1980 to 2010

What's with the Frog?!

We often get asked,
"What's with the frog?" Now after nearly 30 years of trading it's time to reveal all...

The answer is not to be found in the attributes normally associated with an animal that can breathe through its skin and hibernate in mud for months. For Bespoke founder, Clive Goodacre, the original frog-on-a-penny-farthing engraving reflected the incredible intricacy and quality that can be reproduced in print. He found the 19th Century engraving while researching an edition of the Penrose Annual, a yearly synopsis of the printing industry.

In 1980, Bespoke was formed as the first company in the UK to provide printing-industry-literate content for PR and newsletters. The engraving was the perfect vehicle to catch attention and act as a talking point as the business established itself.

By the mid-1990s, Bespoke had expanded its services to design, exhibition fulfilment and general marketing. The business had also spawned many new team members so a logo depicting single-seater transportation was no longer appropriate.

Several logo transformations have taken place since as the Bespoke business has evolved - ribbit, ribbit!

The John Crosfield Foundation

The Crosfield Foundation was established in 2000 by former Crosfield Electronics employees as a charitable trust to assist young people in furthering their education in the Graphic Arts. Several bursaries have so far been awarded by the trust to help students complete their studies in UK universities and colleges.

Hein Ha, the first student to be sponsored by the Foundation, graduated from the London College of Communication (LCC) in 2004 and is now working in the communications and publications department of Ernst & Young, the international accounting and consulting company, in film and media production.

This is just one example of the success of the work carried out by the trust which is now looking to expand its charitable activities to other areas such as travel grants. The first of these will take place in June 2008 when two students will be funded to make an educational trip to Drupa, the world's largest printing exhibition
