| Hong Kong publisher expands with Goss Uniliner tower |
February 5th, 2010 - Sing Tao News Corporation, publisher of Headline Daily, will install an additional Goss Uniliner four-high tower to expand the capacity of an existing Uniliner press. Shipment of the press extension is scheduled for February. The new tower for Sing Tao is specified to match the current 578 mm cut-off press, resulting in a 16-unit press, once installation is complete, running at speeds up to 80,000 copies per hour. Launched in July 2005, Headline Daily is now Hong Kong's number one free newspaper with the largest circulation in the region. In 2007 Sing Tao ordered two new Uniliner presses with a combined total of 32 units from Goss International. With continuing circulation growth, the new tower will allow Sing Tao to match production capacity to demand and also increase pagination of the newspaper. Peter Kirwan, vice president of Asia Pacific newspaper sales at Goss International, comments, "The nature of the Uniliner press design allows us to expand press lines with minimal inconvenience and minimal downtime. It provides some reassurance for businesses like Sing Tao that they can be flexible for the future and adapt to changing market conditions."
